Desantis Rejects AP African American Studies Course - Bethune Cookman Cuts Ties With Ed Reed As Football Coach | ITBP S7E1
In this week’s episode the fellas tackle the recent decision from the Florida Department of Education, and Governor Ron DeSantis to reject the framework for an AP African American studies course for High Schools. The Administration in their rejection stated that the course “As presented, the content of this course is inexplicably contrary to Florida law and significantly lacks educational value.” The backlash has been swift, and with limited clarification from the Governor. For many this is just another example of DeSantis’ attack on “Woke Culture”. We also discuss the decision from Bethune Cookman University to part ways with their prospective football head-coach, Ed Reed. This comes after Reed released multiple videos on Instagram attacking the schools lack of resources and the growing rift between him and the administration. Is Reed being punished for telling the truth? Or was he out of line? And Lastly we tackle the murder of Tyre Nichols at the hands of five Black Memphis police officers. What does this mean for the city of Memphis? We discuss all that and much more.

DeSantis Rejects AP Studies Course
The College Board said Tuesday it would release a new framework for the Advanced Placement course in African American Studies that the administration of Gov. Ron DeSantis blocked from being offered in Florida high schools.
The nonprofit organization, which oversees the nationwide Advanced Placement program, announced that on Feb. 1 it would "release the official framework" for an AP African American Studies course, which it said has been under development since March.
The DeSantis administration sent a letter to the College Board rejecting the course this month, saying, “As presented, the content of this course is inexplicably contrary to Florida law and significantly lacks educational value.”
Bethune Cookman Cuts Ties With Ed Reed
Following the school's decision to not ratify his contract as a result of his outspoken nature about the conditions on campus, students protested on campus this week in an attempt to draw some much needed attention to the conditions and overall treatment on campus, as Reed had initially pointed out.
Today, interim Bethune-Cookman president Dr. Lawrence Drake posted on the school's website a letter that took aim at addressing all of the aforementioned concerns.
In that letter, he addresses some of the concerns brought up, and aims to "close the chapter" on Reed.
Five Black Police Officers Murder Tyre Nichols
Officials in Memphis, Tennessee, released dramatic body camera footage Friday of the fatal confrontation between Tyre Nichols and five police officers.
Nichols can be heard screaming "mom" several times during the gut-wrenching clips, which appear to show officers beating and pepper-spraying him after he ran from a traffic stop arrest.
Nichols died at the age of 29 on Jan. 10, three days after the violent confrontation.
The five Memphis Police Department officers involved in his arrest -- Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr. and Justin Smith -- were fired and then charged with second-degree murder in connection with Nichols' death.
